On this excursion you will experience a cross-section of West Norwegian nature and culture. The journey will take you from the fjord through luxuriant valleys with small communities and almost all the way up to Stølsheimen.
The area has long traditions of waterpower production and the excursion gives an insight into the modern energy and textile and ready -made clothing industries.

Bergsdalen, Eksingedalen and Modalen are all unique West Norwegian valleys offering beautiful landscape experience in the literal sense of the word.

Follow E16 to Dale in the municipality of Vaksdal and stop for a coffee break at Nye Dale Vertshus, situated in the middle of the village, combined with a visit at Dale of Norway’s factory outlet. Continue on Fv.311 up the bends to Bergsdalen, an impressive route up to the dam at Storefossen. Drive through scenic agricultural landscape, where strawberries are on sale until October, and where farms and mountain huts are scattered all over the valley.

Car Walks are an exciting new concept for people who want to see and enjoy more than just the view from the car window. The itineraries combine driving with interesting walks on well-maintained, signposted trails over convenient distances.

Special itinerary sheets containing sketch maps and informative texts for both the drive and the walk will help you find your way easily. The starting points for the walks are shown on the motoring itinerary. The walks start and finish right where you park, and normally take 1–3 hours. The walks are clearly signposted and easy to follow with the aid of the sketch map and itinerary.
